Milena Desse is a French artist and filmmaker based in Brussels.

She makes films, multimedia installations and performances. Her artistic approach is characterised by an aesthetic of erasure and revelation, exploring the materiality of image and sound using analogue film, optical devices or even chemical experiments. The landscapes, places and plants that appear in her work play a crucial role. Not only do they bear witness to the history of our societies, but they are also veritable active agents in the narrative, offering a change of perspective on our human perceptions, revealing and questioning our cosmogonies, our interactions with our environment and non-human, and our ways of inhabiting the world.

Her work has been shown in FID (Marseille, France), DocLisboa (Portugal), Ji.hlava international film festival (Czech Republic), ICA London (UK), Qattan Foundation (Ramallah, Palestine), BOZAR (Belgium), Gulf Photo Plus (Dubai, UAE), Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center (Ramallah, Palestine), Khiasma (Paris, France), ARGOS center for art and media (Brussels, Belgium), etc.
